Alexandra Conunova

Alexandra Conunova attracted public and critical acclaim when she won First Prize at the Joseph Joachim Violin Competition in Hanover in autumn 2012. She was praised by the jury for her vivid tone and her highly virtuoso dramatic art and Hannoversche Allgemeine Zeitung wrote that she "shows with what radiance of tone she is able to endow her music-making. Her interpretations of Bach’s baroque dances are sometimes austere and yet wonderfully cantabile, at other times truly dance-like or – as in the Bourrée – with a high degree of virtuosity." In 2015 Alexandra was awarded the Third Prize at the International Tchaikovsky Violin Competition.

Highlights among her recent and forthcoming performances including appearances with the Mahler Chamber Orchestra, Orchestra della Svizera Romana, Marrinsky Orchestra, Capitole Toulouse, Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra, NDR Hannover, Camerata Bern, China Philharmonic Orches-tra, National Philharmonic Orchestra of Russia and Virtuosi Italiani, alongside such conductors as Valery Gergiev, Theodor Curentzis, Andrew Manze and Vladimir Spivakov.

She regularly appears in the festivals at Verbier, Aix-en-Provence, Colmar, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Gstaad and others. She is also a devoted chamber musician, regularly collaborating with such artists as Renaud Capuçon, Boris Brovtsyn, Tabea Zimmermann, Christian Tetzlaff, Gér-ard Caussé, Blythe Teh Engstroem, Katia and Marielle Labèque, Yura Lee, Michail Lifits, Alexan-der Melnikov, Paul Meyer, Edgar Moreau, Andreas Ottensamer, Julien Quentin, Alexei Stadler, Ki-rill Troussov, IstvanVardai and others.
In her hometown of Chişinău, capital of Moldova, Alexandra Conunova has recently founded the « ArtaVie » charity foundation to help disabled people and young music students. In September 2015 she was awarded the honorific title Master of Arts by the Moldovan President.

Alexandra Conunova performs on a Santo-Seraphino violin 1735, Venice, kindly lent to her by the Deutsche Stiftung Musik Leben Hamburg.
